Hilda Stone and her daughter Ellen have lost everything. The Blitz has taken their home, whilst the war stripped them of their husband and father. So when a stranger foretells the impossible, Hilda is desperate to believe her. Then, against all odds, Hilda’s lost husband Douglas returns home from the dead – just as the stranger predicted.

Years later, Ellen has found peace with a family of her own. But her happiness is short-lived when tragedy strikes, claiming her baby daughter Sarah in a terrible accident.

Consumed by guilt, Ellen feels unable to go on until she remembers the woman’s prediction all those years ago. Then one day, when she least expects it, Ellen is given a sign. But will it provide the answers she so desperately seeks?
